Last week the Junior Nursery Management class went to Evergreen Tree & Landscape. The company's owner Larry Hindle, who is on the Landscape Advisory Board, gave students a tour of his operation. Larry talked with students about running a retail nursery, planting/digging his own B&B trees, running a Christmas tree farm, growing his own annuals/perennials and other aspects of his business. #BAPride #CultivatingExcellence #LocalBusiness

Finally after three terms here at Aggie, the freshman class got placed into their majors! This is a momentous event for our students, for the next three years they will learn all about their selected major, work alongside peers who become lifelong friends, and network with many specialists in their field! Our freshmen worked hard to get into their top majors and it shows in the statistics. 84.28% of students made it into their first choice, 7.55% of students made it into their second choice, and 5.66% of students made it into their third choice. That's an overall average of 97.48% of students who got into their top 3 major choices! We are beyond proud of each and every student, they are laying down a legacy here at Aggie without even realizing it. Congratulations to the Class of 2029, we are privileged to teach the future of agriculture right in Bristol County Massachusetts!

Our beekeeping club had a visit with Paul Tessier from MDAR to get a hive ready to transfer to the UMass Amherst apiary. They also had the opportunity to use new technology to check the research hive which is weighed every 15 minutes to collect data of the colony! #BAPride #CultivatingExcellence #Bees 🐝

Students in our Environmental Conservation Department teamed up with the Somerset Sportsmans Club and the American Chestnut Foundation to support the restoration of the American Chestnut (Castanea dentata). Once a cornerstone of Northeastern forests, this species is now considered functionally extinct, but organizations like the American Chestnut Foundation are working hard to change that. As part of this project, students are growing a variety of genetic strains to better understand disease susceptibility, monitoring their growth, and planting the trees at the Somerset Sportsmans Club at the end of the school year. #BAPride #CultivatingExcellence #AmericanChestnuts
