Workplace Wednesday!
Our junior Co-op student highlight this week is Mason Tavares! Mason Tavares is a junior Co-op student who works at Anchor Animal Hospital located in North Dartmouth. He works as a veterinary technician assistant where he completes tasks such as restraining animals, administering vaccines, and any other tasks the veterinary technician would need assistance with. Mason favors being able to help hurting and sick animals get on the road to recovery. He feels as if this co-op position benefits him because it gives him a more in-depth experience in the veterinary field that solidifies him wanting to become a vet one day. We’d like to thank Anchor Animal Hospital for supplying our students with the opportunity to get real-world experience in a veterinary hospital.
Our senior Co-op student highlight this week is Aaron Medeiros! Aaron Medeiros is a senior Co-op student working at JM Pet Resort and Clinic in Brockton working as a Kennel Lead. Aaron works as a supervisor in the Kennels, making sure all tasks are done properly and efficiently. This Co-op position is beneficial to Aaron because it aligns with what they would like to do in the future, giving them a step in the right direction. We'd like to thank JM Pet Resort and Clinic for supplying our students with this Co-op opportunity to allow them to get real-world experience when working in a pet resort!

The American chestnut tree, which was a vital part of the Northeast American tree canopy for hundreds of years, is now considered functionally extinct due to chestnut blight. Throughout the school year, seniors in the Environmental Conservation Department have been studying these trees. Last week, they received 128 chestnut seeds with various genetic strains, representing hybrids of the American and Chinese chestnut. At the end of the school year, Environmental Engineering students will plant these trees at the Somerset Sportsman's Club and on our campus. The goal of this project is to help restore the American chestnut population. A huge thank you to the American Chestnut Foundation and the Somerset Sportsman's Club for your collaboration on this project. #BAPride #CultivatingExcellence #EnvironmentalEngineering #NaturalResourceManagement #Conservation #AmericanChestnut

ECD students train to communicate professionally and effectively with the public and we host educational tables at many fairs, festivals, and community events around Southeastern Massachusetts. Practice makes perfect. #BAPride #CultivatingExcellence #NaturalResourceManagement #EnvironmentalConservation
